When should I schedule my pool opening and closing?
Openings: We recommend scheduling your opening as soon as the freezing weather breaks, typically between mid-April and late May. Opening early helps prevent algae growth as the days get warmer.
Closings: Pool closings generally happen between mid-September and late October. Properly winterizing your plumbing lines and equipment is vital to protect against freezing damage.
How often should I change the sand in my pool filter?
For optimal filtration, pool filter sand should typically be replaced every 3 to 5 years. Over time, the jagged edges of the sand grains wear down and become smooth, or the bed becomes channeled, making it less effective at trapping debris. If your pool is staying cloudy despite balanced chemistry, it might be time for a sand change.
